Around the Block

2017-2019

Moving into one of those tall block houses which are so typical for the 3rd district have created diverse feelings in me first. I have been always looking for the combination of nature in the city when it comes to my home, but this was the first time i considered this option, based on an earlier positive experience of my friend’s apartment on Kaszásdűlő. These houses are dominating a major sight of the district, their shapes towering towards the hill’s forests which are forming a compelling but controversial atmosphere, the mixture of quiet nature and crowded housing at the same time. To me, this reflects not exactly the beauty, but this closeness to nature and a peaceful community feeling establishes a sort of unique blended impression. Something we all face in our everyday life, on different levels - peace and confrontations, by means, everyone around us reflects what can be also found in ourselves. By creating these pictures, i climbed up to the Kiscelli forest to capture the closeby quietness of the forest and the reflections of the glass panels. Some were also taken at a park near Szőlő street, where i live. Intuitively, i wanted to achieve something what can rise these buildings above our everyday illusions, above the sky, and make them shine in a similar way how their monumental peacefulness lightens me up every time I return home, all year round.
